Fashion has not been my interest until only recently. When I was young, I used to wear whatever my mom bought for me. Of course, I would deny clothes that were just ridiculous, but I had no preference whatsoever. I mean, I still don't.
Most of my pre-teen life revolved around anime. So, I didn't spend much time like most 13 year olds looking at magazines and asking parents for extra allowance to buy a jewelry. At that time, I believed I was not "like other girls", which is really stupid since we're all special and the same. Yeah, I spent my money on cosplay and most of them cost a lot. Not only did I have no interest in fashion, I did not have extra money either.
It also didn't help the fact that I went to private middle school and high school. Uniforms? The most comfortable thing ever in the morning. No rush to choose an outfit and argue with your parents. If there was a free dress day, I could pick up whatever cute thing I find from Forever21 and I won't be so different from others.
Sophomore year of high school was different. Majority of the girls wore light makeup during school and applied thicker makeup outside of school. They were going places with gorgeous outfits. I thought they looked like celebrities who were having fun looking fresh with their friends. I think I was attracted to how fashion gave everyone confidence. Once I started to choose my own outfits, I felt confident too.
Problems is, I don't know what is "my look". Most people have a strict style they unconciously go by like earthy, bohemian, simple, etc. So, I decided to put together sample outfits I would most wear.

Once I created these, my style become more apparent. I have to say I cheated a little by choosing mostly articles from mixxmix, my favorite store.
So, what do they all have in common?
Since these are all outfits I would wear, next time I do some shopping, I'll watch out for points above. I think I can also see the style, but I don't know the word for it. Maybe preppy, simple, earthy? Eh.
This has been really helpful for me. I suggest everyone to try it too in case you want to know which outfits work for you or that you like. You can make outfits like above on polyvore.
Happy spring shopping!
So, what do they all have in common?
- Skirts. That was unavoidable. I have wide hips (unnatural for Koreans), so I like how skirts accentuate it modestly. I still can't believe how all of them have skirts though. Lol.
- Hair accessories shows up often. I have no idea how to style my hair. It's mainly because I don't brush it often beacuse it's too thick and long, also it gets tangled too easy. So I distract my messy hair with a hat or ribbons or bunny ears. When I made these, there were so many cute headbands, but none of them made it into my list. I can't stand how they move back and forth or hurt the back of my ears. Hats and ties are the best.
- For being a shoe-holic I don't have a variety of shoes. All but two are sneakers. Boots are just fancier sneakers anyways. I guess since I'm a person who likes walking around more than sitting, sneakers just naturally come to me. Who knows when I might need to run from something? I don't know. Sneakers are a girl's best friend.
- I don't have a lot of bags either. If I do, those are totes or simple get-the-important-thing-out-and-shove-it-back-in type of bags. I don't like bags? How am I supposed to run around with those dangling on my body? It'd be better of designers made women's clothes with deep pockets or functioning pockets at all.
- Lastly, none of them are sleeveless it seems. For the one denim bustier that's sleeveless, I forgot to add a matching bomber jacket. I'm pretty insecure with sleeveless tops.
