One of the best ways to enjoy a concert is to go with a group of friends. However, it's not so easy to bring a friend along considering their possible financial difficulties, schedule conflict, or simple lack of interest in the band. The alternate, as great solution is to go alone. As I have attended many concerts in my life alone, I decided to answer some faqs of about this.
How can I get my parent's approval?
The biggest problems fans under age 18 face is getting parent permission to go alone, especially for girls. What parents fear is time, people, and accidents. Concerts start late and end late. The darkness is one thing, the more important thing is transportation. For the young driver or the parent, it can be difficult to drive hours between the venue to/from home. There's really little that can be done except to show that you will be dropped off at a reasonable hour close to the venue and mark a safe place such as a nearby cafe to meet up after the concert. Basically, you just have to show how responsible you are by giving them exact time and location the moment you arrive and the moment you get out of the concert hall. Tell them you will keep them updated.
Will people judge me if I'm alone?
Honestly, people don't care if you're alone. If anything, they will try to engage you in their conversation so you won't seem lonely. When they do, join the fun. Talk about the band you're about to meet and your biases. You will definitely end up making friends. It gets better when you are seated (or standing?) because you know who will be next to you for the next two-three hours. They are the ones you will be screaming your heads off with anyways. The friends you make will end up somewhere in your KKT contacts to later contact and furiously text about how great the concert was.
The thing is though, once you are near the venue, the excitement overrides the being nervous of people. You barely have time to worry about what others think.
Should I prepare anything extra if I'm going alone?
There's really nothing you can prepare extra. You just have to be responsible and be able to take care of yourself. The only setback of not having a friend is that there's no one to save your place in line just in case you need a bathroom break. Oh, don't leave your stuff unattended!!
What's the best way to enjoy the concert?
Immersing yourself. This is actually one of the reasons why I prefer going alone. Friends can make it difficult for you to enjoy the concert, as you might make it difficult for them. Going alone, you can scream all you want, chant the fanchant, and jump wildly with no one to hold you back. Also, bring lightsticks since your hands can feel a bit empty.
I still want don't want to be alone! What should I do?
No worries~This is why social networking sites exist. Tumblr, Facebook, and Twitter usually will have a #tag or page made by fans attending specific concerts. There people sell/buy tickets, plan fan events, announce freebies to hand out before concert, and look for concert buddies. Just be sure you are careful about meeting the stranger. You may get close to them online, but they can turn out to have bad intentions. Set up a meeting place that's well lit and crowded. If they reject this idea, I suggest you find another person.
Again, you don't have to feel obligated to socialize if that's not your thing. You probably paid good money to attend this concert. Make your money worth! Have fun!! ((ヽ(๑╹◡╹๑)ノ))♬
