June Kang
Student l Store-owner l Translator
I was born in Seoul, South Korea but lived in Busan until I moved to Mexico in early childhood. Just a year later, I moved to United States, where I am now. Because of this, I'm bilingual--Korean and English. Currently, I'm self-teaching Spanish and Japanese. By mid-twenties (crosses fingers), I hope to be able to speak Mandarin and Swedish as well. I began working as a Korean translator for scanlating group in 2015.
The first ever "craze" I got into was anime and manga. The love for it is still in me but I am putting it off until I graduate. Long story. From 2011 to 2014, I cosplayed. The next "craze" is kpop which I am currently most passionate about. I was born with this culture so there is really no way I can avoid it. I hope to spread more about the beauty of both countries besides the pop-culture.
Until about sophomore year, I was depressed about my outer appearance. My eyes are semi-monolid and I was fat. For someone who grew up watching Kpop idols and being bombarded with media, I hated myself. Later, I learned to love myself. Most of it was through losing weight. I lost about 20lbs. The changed diet cleared my skin and kept me in form. Although I am still not the "ideal beauty", the fact that I can improve myself helped me feel much healthier and beautiful. After feeling confident, I became interested in fashion, makeup, and health that can "better" me.
